The Gamma Berlina was perhaps the ultimate evolution of Pininfarina’s BMC 1800 Aerodynamica concept car, first shown in 1966. The fastback saloon echoed the times perfectly, but somehow failed to capture buyers’ imaginations. However, the Coupé – also styled by Pininfarina – emerged as one of the finest-looking cars of the 1970s. It might have been saddled with the same problems as the Berlina, but owners have been more prepared to restore and repair than to throw away, and that’s down purely to the way the Coupé looks. Buy by all means, but treat like a China doll.
