As with the Sovereign saloons, Jaguar’s V12 engine also made its way into the Daimler-badged Coupés. One of the rarest of all Daimlers – just 407 were made from 1975 to 1977 – this 285bhp 5343cc pillarless and shortened sophisticate had wonderful looks with a top speed a whisker under 150mph. Unfortunately, all this couldn’t quite make up for the supply and quality problems that bedevilled it during its short life. This was a model that deserved a fate better than befell it. Rarity makes them even more exclusive than the 1855 Jaguar versions made.
