The 308 GT4 has the rare distinction of being designed by Bertone, making it the first Ferrari for nearly 20 years that wasn’t styled by Pininfarina. It also contained the company’s first production V8 engine, and was its first mid-engined 2+2. None of those facts have helped endear it to latter-day Ferrari buyers, though it stayed in production for seven years and racked up almost 3000 sales. The engine is effectively two-thirds of a 365’s V12. A competent and quick car; find a good one and it makes a fine first Ferrari.
