In 1980, second generation Lancer was given a boost following the addition of a turbocharger. Initially the 1.8-litre EX Turbo pushed out 135bhp, but when it came to the UK in 1982, the Lancer Turbo had been bored out to 2-litres and a full 168bhp. The 4G63 engine that powered it would go on to power the legendary Evo models, and score heavily in world rallying. The chiselled ‘80s styling was improved drastically by the full-depth chin spoiler with reverse ‘2000 Turbo’ badging, BMW 2002 style. Has become a performance icon for lovers of Oriental classics.
