In autumn 1957, after a break of nearly 30 years, NSU, the world's largest bicycle manufacturer, launched a new automobile, the Prinz. The Prinz was no luxury model that captivated with its beauty, yet on the market for compact cars such as those that dominated the roads at the time, the NSU Prinz looked bold and sporty. Series production began on 11 March 1958. The Prinz was built in 2 versions: the Prinz I "standard" version and the Prinz II "luxury" version.
