Series production of the NSU TTS began on 13 February 1967. Because 1.0 litre had been defined as a boundary between classes in motor sport, the TTS was given an engine with 996 cc displacement and 70 hp at 6,150 rpm. It accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in a sensational 12.3 seconds and went on to reach a top speed of 160 km/h. The TTS quickly advanced to become a value-for-money motor sport machine on race tracks all over Europe. In total, The NSU TTS won 29 national championships in Europe and North America between 1967 and 1976.
