Unlike some Peugeot/Pininfarina collaborations, the 404 Cabriolet and its coupé brother were a full rebody of an existing platform, sharing no external panels. Given such a free rein, it’s unsurprising the Italian styling house came up with such a stunning car – and one that, thanks to its scarcity, is in strong demand today. The wheelbase is shared with the saloon, and as a result, the 404 Cabriolet is a full four-seater. Power came from Peugeot’s well-regarded 1.6-litre engine, and delivered excellent performance, especially in fuel injected form.
