1968 Peugeot 504 Saloon

Launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1968, the 504 saloon was Peugeot’s mid-sized booted option, slotting in between the new 604 and the ageing 304. The engine was mounted longitudinally, driving the rear wheels, and the combination of soft spring and damper rates with massive suspension travel made the 504 an excellent performer on poor and non-existent road surfaces. European 504s are a rare sight today, but they are still one of the most common forms of transport throughout Africa, due to their simplicity and reliability.
