Rover’s first new post-war car was visually similar to its predecessors, with only detail changes over the 10, 12, 14 and 16hp models. However, the ash frame construction of the older cars was dropped in favour of an all-steel arrangement for its shorter chassis. New inlet-over-exhaust engines were fitted as well as all-independent front suspension. It was a nice, conventional model that majored on Rover’s core values of solidity and quality. But the P3 stayed in production for a mere 18 months, its new parts being used more effectively on the P4.
