The backbone ordinary model that was easily the Herald range’s best-seller and continued almost to the end of production. The 1147cc engine produced less bhp than the smaller twin-carb engine it replaced, but gave much better torque figures, so it always felt more powerful. A higher axle ratio was fitted for easier cruising and this time there’s an estate version as well as a convertible. Either of those can command up to 50% more than the saloon. Fittings were more luxurious than earlier Heralds and disc brakes were an option worth looking out for now.
