Drive System:

BMC badge engineering ran amok with the 1100 and 1300 range, but the flagship Vanden Plas Princess variant was quite a superior machine. For its size, it managed to pack in a lot of cosseting. All the trimming was done at the Vanden Plas factory in London and, as well as all the expected wood and leather touches, VP also fitted extra sound deadening and picnic tables for rear seat passengers. The initial 1098cc engine gave 55bhp, this rose to 65bhp with the MkII of 1967 (but only after BMC upgraded it from single- to twin-carb in 1968). Probably the most desirable of all BMC 1100s.
