The Viva got more attractive and trendy in HB form. Not only was it larger, but it also featured distinctive ‘Coke bottle’ side styling, one of the first UK cars to do so. Aside from the engine, an enlarged (1159cc) version of the HA unit, little was carried over from the previous model. The suspension was totally new and quite advanced, resulting in impressive handling. This could be better enjoyed in the high compression SL90, with 59.5bhp. When the Viva started to lag behind its rivals in the late Sixties, the overhead-cam 1599cc engine from the Victor was added to the mix.
