The FD Victor’s ‘Coke bottle’ kink on its rear doors reflected contemporary American trends, just as previous Victors before it had done. Thus the looks were bold and brash, with quad-headlamp styling and the continuation (on some models) of the three-speed column-mounted gearchange and front bench seating that Vauxhall had persisted with for years. Two new hemispherical-head overhead-cam engines, of 1599cc and 1975cc, were introduced, with servo-assisted front brakes for the latter. The VX 4/90 was the sporty model, with twin carburettors, overdrive and Rostyle wheels.
