1963 Mercedes-Benz 230

In keeping with the fashion to apply generic names to Mercedes ranges to help cut through the maze of numbers, you’ll find ‘Pagoda’ commonly attached to these sports cars, thanks to the kicked up edges to the roofline of the optional hardtop. Offering more power and performance than the 190SL it replaced, the 230SL. Proving its worth, one won the Spa-Sofia-Liège rally. The 250SL superseded it, but was only around for 1967. Other than the larger engine, which offered no more bhp but extra torque, there were only small detail differences.
