1952 Bentley R-Type Continental

HJ Mulliner’s Bentley Continental variant of the R-type was pure automotive art. Looking far more modern than its 1952 origins the sublime fastback shape, with the rear wheels concealed by the curvaceous rear wings, was constructed from light alloy. This allowed a top speed of nigh-on 120mph; far faster than the saloon versions but the streamlined shape also helped the performance considerably, as did the 4887cc engine that found its way into the final cars. Hugely expensive now but every penny is worth it.
