1973 Jaguar JAGUAR XJ6 Coupe

The V12-powered XJ 5.3 Coupé might have stolen all of the glamour at the launch of the two-door XJ, but the 4.2-litre car was the one that comfortably sold the most. With a 20kg weight advantage over the four-door XJ, acceleration was slightly improved, but cruising really was this car’s forté. Sales never met management’s expectations, mainly because of the recession, but also because of a rapidly deteriorating reputation on the back of poor build quality during the 1970s. Never made it into Series III form, which hints at unfulfilled potential.
