1963 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible

As well as the rare Radford DB5 ‘shooting brake’ estates, those seeking an out-of-the-ordinary DB5 could plump for the drophead coupé. Extra bracing compensated for the lack of a roof, although the huge chassis meant the DB5 could cope well with some of its original strength removed. Production of the saloon finished in 1965 but 37 convertibles were built afterwards. Aston would subsequently use the Volante name to describe all its soft-tops. While the styling was that of the DB6, the Superleggera construction rooted it firmly in the DB5 mould.
