Launched a year after the saloon it was based on, the Coupé used a 19cm shortened floorpan but still found room for full-sized adults in the rear seats. That shorter wheelbase combines well with a reduction of 90kg from the saloon’s weight, creating a car that is even sharper to drive and suffers less from the lack of power steering. Engine options are the same rev-happy 1300-2000 twin-cams as the saloon, with Bosch injection from 1981 and the addition of a supercharged version, badged Volumex, for 1983-84.
