1966 BMW 2000C/CS

BMW’s ‘Neue Klasse’ range had proved an instant and substantial hit in Germany; and just like the Rover and Triumph 2000s in the UK had revolutionised the executive class here, the BMW equivalent changed the face of the market there. Easily the most appealing was the CS version, a pillarless coupé by Wilhelm Hofmeister. The Karmann-built bodies were pretty, but weren’t immune to rust, and have now almost disappeared from the scene. Find a nice one and cherish it – BMW’s future success was mapped out here.
