Thanks to its drop-dead good looks and a guest appearance in You Only Love Twice, the 2000GT put Toyota on the world map. Produced in a joint venture with Yamaha, the 2000GT was offered to Toyota when Yamaha failed to excite Nissan into producing the car – and between 1967 and 1970, a mere 337 of the gorgeous sports car were built. And that’s a shame given its fantastic technical specification that boasted a jewel-like dohc straight-six that pumped out 150bhp to give a 135mph maximum speed. Revered as an absolute classic, and one of Japan’s finest ever.
